I went to all 4 games. Encouraged by the SP. Nervous about the pen. Excited about Devers. Need Casas and Story to hit. Love Cedanne. Amazing city and stadium.
Saturday I’m not sure why they didn’t walk Julio. Can’t let him beat you.
Yes. I can actually claim to have totally "first guessed" this one. My two friends and I were sitting just into the outfield right on the RF line and were hollering about it; another friend sitting elsewhere in the stadium texted me at the same time. There was an open base, so to our thinking the Mariners have one great hitter and 8 ranging from good to not good at all. I think the hitter coming up after Julio was mediocre But even if he was their second best hitter, I'd rather let their second best hitter beat me than their best.
Of course it might not have worked. Perhaps the next hitter would have hit a salami. Or walked to score the winning run. Or there would have been a balk. Who knows? I just believe in generally not letting the other team's best hitter beat you; if someone else does, tip your cap. I feel like this is a lesson the 2013 Cardinals needed to learn when Ortiz hit .688.
The Sox went head-to-head with the AL’s best rotation and more than held their own
They did! And on the road, at historically one of the more difficult places for them to play. Could've been better, but all in all, not bad!

It's funny, Jeremy, walking Julio never occurred to me. I'm not sure why they didn't walk him, especially after falling behind him 3-1 in the count.
