Long term, I agree with Chris Hatfield. When Tristan Casas is ready, he’s the Sox’ 1b. But that probably won’t happen this year.

Short term, I could see them making a smaller move for a lefty first baseman at the deadline, but it won’t be their top priority.

They need to add a decent starting pitcher, and it never hurts to add a bullpen piece.

Dalbec is a problem, but not a huge one. Every team in the league, save Houston, has a regular hitting as poorly as he is.

I think there's a real chance Dalbec gets moved at the deadline. Bloom has talked over and over again about not wanting to mortgage the future, and with Casas next in line (in a year or two), Dalbec seems like a guy who can bring back some minor value while not affecting the Sox future plans all that much.
